Researchers have clearly identified the importance of green space to promote mental and physical health among humans. In urban areas, public parks are essential for providing access many residents. This study relationships between demographics, neighborhood social capital, violent crime, residential distance closest park (park proximity) with self-reported parks, a population-representative sample adults in Philadelphia. Women, older age groups, minorities, those lower education levels had parks. Those reporting high capital higher Park proximity number crimes within 100 meters from respondents’ residence were inversely associated Interestingly, living proximal odds but only residents crime quartiles, not highest quartile. These results suggest that who lived areas might be deterred using even if there close their residence.
